Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

Restoring Quality of Life Through Exercise and Education

Patient Care

Residency Program

American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation delivers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care to adults and children with impairments due to traumatic injury and disease.

Our department is a dynamic group of individuals with varied backgrounds and skills from which our residents benefit. We have board- certified pediatric physiatrists, a board-certified spinal cord injury specialist, American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine-certified specialists, and an acupuncturist, as well as pain, head injury, stroke, amputee and geriatric specialists.

The faculty are actively involved in research on spasticity, adaptive equipment and rehabilitation technology for children, exercise, spinal cord injury, and stroke rehabilitation. And they are dedicated to teaching and working with residents one-on-one on all clinical rotations. There are four to six hours a week of formal resident lectures, journal clubs and clinical case conferences on electro-diagnostics, gait analysis, sports medicine, ethics and practice management.
