The Department of Ophthalmology at
Eastern Virginia Medical School provides comprehensive ophthalmic
diagnostic, evaluation, and management services to patients of all
ages. Medical and surgical
treatments are carried out on an outpatient basis, as well as in
Norfolk's major hospitals. The department covers all subspecialty areas
of ophthalmology, including the cornea and external disease, glaucoma,
neuro-ophthalmology, pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus,
oculoplastics, retina and vitreous, and uveitis.
The Thomas R. Lee Center for Ocular
Pharmacology was established in December 1998 to develop treatments for
chronic and blinding diseases of the eye, and devotes much of its
energy to glaucoma and reformulation of systemic medications for
ophthalmic use. |
